Cenote Ik Kil und Cenote Azul auf der Halbinsel Yucatán in Mexiko

Rahmen

If you ever travel to the Mexican Peninsula Yucatan, you better not miss out on the plenty Cenotes. The federal state Quintana Roo has over 950 Cenotes and there is many more in the neighboring state of Yucatán. But what exactly is a Cenote? The term “Cenote” derives from the native inhabitants of the country, the Maya, and means a limestone-hole which is filled with sweet water and which emerged from the collapse of a cave ceiling. Many Cenotes are connected through an underground-cave-system; by the way the biggest of this planet. The bigger the choice, the harder it is to choose, so it is tough to make a decision on which Cenote to visit. We’ve decided on two of the most famous Cenodes. Ik Kil in the state of Yucatán and the Cenote Azul in Quintana Roo. You have to pay a little entry fee to enter the Cenotes but can stay there as long as you like. If you ever have the chance, you should pay a visit to both of them as they are very different from each other but nonetheless both very beautiful. The Cenote Azul is glowing in a radiant blue and surrounded by scenic nature. The Cenote Ik Kil is a deep hole with hanging vines above it. A true spectacle of nature and totally different from everything I have seen before. Enjoy the pictures!
