Gestern sprach ich noch von den Kontrasten, heute möchte ich euch einen zeigen. Immer wieder findet man hier in Johannesburg in unerwarteten Ecken Kreatives, viel Straßenkunst, aufstrebende Galerien und Boutiquen. So konnte ich auch nicht so recht glauben, dass sich in einem Hinterhof eines recht unscheinbaren Straßenzuges mit alten Industriekomplexen im Stadtteil Milpark ein detailverliebtes Shopping-Areal befinden würde. Nicht ohne Grund wird auf der Homepage der 44 Stanley Avenue von „Joburg’s best kept secret“ gesprochen. In schöner Atmosphäre befinden sich auf mehrere Hinterhöfe verteilt süße Cafés und Restaurants, Interieur-Shops, Vintage-Läden und liebevoll eingerichtete Boutiquen. Leider hatten wir nicht ganz so viel Zeit für diese Shopping-Perle, hätten dort aber gut und gerne einige schöne Stunden verbringen können. Unbedingt Zeit für eines der Cafés mitbringen, wenn ihr einen Ausflug in die 44 Stanley Avenue plant (Bei einem Johannesburg-Besuch ein absolutes Muss!).
Yesterday, I was talking about many contrasts and today I want to show them to you. At every single edge of Johannesburg you always come across unexpected creative areas, street arts, buildings and boutiques. Thus, you cannot really believe that there is a shopping area in love to details just in the backyard of an unimpressive street with old industrial complexes. It’s “Joburg’s best kept secret” how it is already named on the homepage of the 44 Stanley Avenue. In a markedly nice atmosphere there a sweet cafés and restaurants as well as interior-shops, vintage-stores and nicely furnished boutiques, spread on several backyards. Unfortunately, there was not much time to spend at this shopping highlight but we could have stayed there for hours. You definitely should dedicate some of your time to one of those cafés whenever you are at 44 Stanley Avenue (which is a place to be when you are in Johannesburg)
